Top Five New Years Resolutions for 2021

I think we can all agree that 2020 has just been one giant MONDAY. Seriously, we basically lost our social lives and barely got to leave our homes for months on end. Which brought about some pretty negative feelings. But then, we got to work from home – in our pj’s no less! Plus, we got to spend more quality time with our families, which has been a blessing. In fact, I believe 2020 actually brought a ton of personal growth for me. I know some parts of this year really sucked. But, it forced me to slow down and reflect. This caused my priorities to completely change. Because I found that I had been living for other people and not for myself. It also gave me the time I needed to begin working on me. Which is why I decided to start working on my New Years resolutions!

My New Years Resolutions For 2020

Some of my resolutions for 2020 included:

  • Lose 25 pounds – I lost 15, so that’s almost a win!
  • Pay off my debts – My car is nearly paid off, so I came close with one of them…
  • Graduate from college – I DID IT!!!
  • Start my career – Well, I guess I did, just not in the way I meant!
  • Buy a new house – Yeah, that went out the window…
  • Potty train my daughter – We did that!
  • Spend more quality time with my hubby and daughter – We’ve made some pretty great memories this year!

As you can see, I had pretty good intentions going into this year. Then, some resolutions were no longer a priority, some were tweaked to fit my new priorities, a couple were sort of done, and two were accomplished. Seriously, YAY for that degree! It was hard earned. But I was way more proud to get my daughter potty trained! Those pull-ups weren’t cheap and was she stubborn! And since I sort of accomplished my New Years resolutions for 2020, I thought it would be a great idea to really build off of that momentum and set goals for 2021. I am determined to make next year a great year, no matter what happens in the world. And I seriously hope you will, too. Keep reading if you want to find some resolutions that you may have forgotten to add to your list!

Lose 10 Pounds

Okay, let’s get serious for a second. Last year, I lost 15 pounds and that alone is amazing for me! I didn’t think I would accomplish that New Years resolution this year, since I have a terrible relationship with food and exercise. I am an emotional eater and chronically unmotivated to do anything about it. While I was doing some research on how to overcome these struggles this coming year, I stumbled upon Pure Hypnosis | Sean Wheeler. Sean is Atlanta’s best hypnotherapist who has been featured on various tv shows, radio shows, and magazines. He offers hypnotherapy for a issues you may be suffering from. One of those is hypnosis for weight loss, which will help eliminate your emotional eating while increasing your desire to exercise!

Go On More Adventures

Now, there is still a chance that 2021 won’t allow us to really travel and we’ll most likely still be social distancing, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have some truly amazing adventures! I really struggle to break out of my comfort zone, so one of my resolutions is to try to get away from that. I would love to go on some adventures that I’ve always dreamed of doing but have been too afraid to do. For example, I’d really love to go sky diving, to fly in a helicopter, or to go zip-lining. If I get even just one of those done next year, I’ll consider that a win in my book!

My Favorite New Years Resolution: Pay Off Two Debts

Now, I know this isn’t a huge goal. I’d like to pay off all my debt next year, and I truly would LOVE to do that. But, I just don’t think that is a very realistic expectation at this point in my life. When I made my resolutions for 2020, I never thought I’d actually achieve them, so I was thoroughly surprised when I started to accomplish some of them. This inspired me to keep working on myself and carry on some of those resolutions into next year. My hope is that if I set some achievable objectives, then it will motivate me to keep going instead of discouraging me from the entire list.

Learn New Recipes

One of the biggest ruts I find myself falling into is cooking the same few tried and true meals over and over again every week. While it is nice to know what the food is going to taste like and that it will be enjoyed by both my hubby and my daughter each night, it can get pretty boring after a while. I would love to find delicious some new recipes to try out! My hope is that we will be able to add a few more staples into our usual dinner rotation without have too many fails in between. I have already begun working on this resolution by trying a few new recipes here and there over the last two months, but my goal is to try a new recipe every week!

Go On More Dates

This is more of a marriage resolution, but could be fun for singles, too! Many of us, get married and have children. Then, forget to actually put our relationship first on occasion. Our conversations turned from learning about each other to only discussing work, bills, and the tiny human. I was definitely guilty of this. I put so much physically and emotionally into trying to be the best mom I could be, that I completely forgot to be a good wife. This year, we have had many conversations to rectify our mistakes. But, now I want to add some more excitement into the mix and have at least ONE date night per month!

Those are some of my top New Years resolutions for 2021 that I hope to achieve. Do you have any goals for next year that you’d like to share? Comment down below and let me know!
